Welcome from the Department Head

The Department of Engineering Technology prepares Electronics Engineering Technologists and Industrial Engineering Technologists for entry into the high technology job market of tomorrow. We are in the business of graduating problem solvers and decision makers for local and regional industry. Technologists work closely with engineers to design, install, and maintain the complex systems used in industry today. The Department of Engineering Technology is designated an Area of Excellence by the Louisiana Board of Regents.

Thomas M. Hall, Jr.

Thomas M. Hall, Jr. has been the Head of the Department of Engineering Technology at Northwestern State University since 2000. He first led the department through the initial accreditation of the Associate of Science in Electronics Technology and the Bachelor of Science in Electronics Engineering Technology degrees by the Technology Accreditation Commission of ABET. Following that, the department created Louisiana’s first Industrial Engineering Technology program, which was accredited by TAC of ABET in 2002. Dr. Hall is a leader in the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE). He serves on the Executive Board of the Engineering Technology Council of ASEE. He chairs the national Electrical and Computer Engineering Department Heads’ Association and sits on the Committee for Technology Accreditation Activities of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE).
